Dr John Dimitri Papanastassiou is a highly experienced orthopedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery, orthopedic oncology, musculoskeletal tumors, and complex orthopedic procedures. With more than two decades of clinical practice, he combines extensive surgical expertise with a distinguished academic and research career.
After completing his orthopedic training in Greece, Dr Papanastassiou pursued advanced international fellowships at some of the world’s leading medical institutions, including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, Moffitt Cancer Center, and the Florida Orthopedic Institute in the United States. These prestigious fellowships provided advanced training in orthopedic oncology and complex spine surgery, allowing him to manage highly challenging musculoskeletal conditions.
He currently serves as a Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at the General Oncological Hospital of Kifisia in Athens and collaborates with several leading private hospitals, where he performs advanced orthopedic and spinal procedures. His clinical practice focuses on personalized, evidence-based care, offering both conservative and surgical treatment tailored to each patient’s individual needs.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Papanastassiou has an outstanding academic record. He holds a PhD in Orthopedics and a Master’s Degree in Mountain Medicine and has authored 48 peer-reviewed scientific publications, contributing significantly to the advancement of orthopedic and spine surgery. He is a frequent invited speaker at international scientific congresses and an active member of several leading national and international orthopedic societies.
